So I'll be offering a giveaway! One winner will win a paperback copy of Hex Hall and an ARC of Team Human!

Also, I may or may not be having a giveaway every Friday this month... :P

I didn't want to title this post a day of thanks or a month of thanks because really we should be thankful everyday. But because life can be unpredictable (read: kick us when we're least expecting it), it's sometimes hard. I'm glad there's a day, a month a year that we are all brought together with our families to share their presence (and food) and reflect on what's really important in life.

I have so much to be thankful for this year, so so much.

  • The chance to work my dream job and finally be able to experience Walt Disney World
  • All the amazing (and not so amazing) people I got to meet and work with
  • Making the most amazing and loving friends from around the world
  • My adorable and frustrating husband who makes me feel like I'm the best person in the world, even after 7 years
  • My family, even if I don't know what the heck is going on these days
  • My baby Jay, for still being my sunshine and still wanting belly rubs even if he's growling
  • My babygirl Meez, even if you're not with us anymore, we'll all still be thinking of you this holiday season. We love you and miss you ♥
  • My baby Boq, thank you for keeping me company the last 2 years, sleep well little one
  • For making Yelp Elite
  • For making Amazon Vine
  • For the YouTube monetize invitation
  • For books! Oh you are my world ♥
  • For the amazing followers of this blog, thank you for not making me feel like I'm uncool for loving books, you guys are awesome
  • For Disney for talking me into never giving up to reach my dream
  • For my cafe game for helping me doze off to sleep every night
  • For my space heater because MAN it is freezing!
  • For Starbucks, you give me a sense of comfort
  • For candles and their ability to soothe me
  • For life and all the things it gives and throws

I'm going going to do a giveaway, for all of you!

All you have to do is tell me 5 things you are thankful for. It can be anything. But I prefer to hear the smaller things in life you're thankful for (like flip flops or for spring to be here already or your favorite Starbucks drink). Winners will be picked on NOVEMBER 30TH. Not sure what the prize will be yet, but I'm thinking a copy of Shatter Me? (:

The winner for my holiday giveaway is....

Congratulations! I'll be emailing you shortly!

My husband entered the giveaway and won but he told me to give it away to one of you guys instead (he always enters my giveaways cause I always pout when I don't get people to enter...  I wasn't expecting this many people to enter lol!) since he doesn't want to start his blog yet lol!

A little irrelevant but I thought I'd just mention that :)

Thank you to everyone who entered! I'm hoping to do another giveaway in March! Let's hope I can find the post office in Florida when I get there. Happy Holidays everyone!

I've been super busy lately with finishing up school and moving so I haven't had much time to read and review books, which sucks! December is always so hectic! Last year I was swamped with planning the last minute details of my wedding and this year I'm swamped with moving. I can't wait for December next year, hopefully I'll get to enjoy it lol.

With that said, I didn't come up with a catchy giveaway phrase or an event (though I really wish I had time to)! But since the holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year, I had to do a giveaway (even after husband suggested that I shouldn't. What a scrooge! Haha).  On to what you'll win!

  • Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
  • Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn, David Levithan
  • Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
  • Dream Factory by Brad Barkley, Heather Hepler
  • Bag of holiday goodies of products I've been enjoying this month (new products of course!)

All you have to do is fill out the forum below!
Giveaway will run from December 7th to 17th.
US only, sorry!

I'm doing something different this time, I'm asking for your address ahead of time. Only because I don't have time to email you for it since I'm going to ship this before the holidays (I was at the post office yesterday and things were already crazy)! If you feel uncomfortable with inputting your address, please feel free to email it to me with the subject GIVEAWAY ADDRESS and your name. And please know that this information will be deleted after the giveaway is over.

Speak (Platinum Edition)Twenty Boy SummerDreamland

If you didn't read my blog post on SPEAK LOUDLY then you probably don't know I'm having a giveaway! In honor of banned book week, I'm giving away a copy of Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson and Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler (which I just started reading last night). This contest will run until October 1st and I'll pick a winner the following day.

If you'd like a chance to win, please leave a comment over at this post!

[edit]
I decided to add another book to the giveaway, Dreamland by Sarah Dessen. Even though it's not one of my favorite Sarah Dessen books, abusive relationships is something that hits a spot with me and I think this book has issues that women should be aware of.

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
Published: Jan 1st, 2008
Details: 360 pages, paperback
Source: Amazon.com
Series: Yes (Book 1)
Rating: 5 out of 5!
Summary (goodreads):
A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.
In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

I've put off writing this review for a few months now because I had so much to say and I didn't know how to say it... and now that I've put it off for too long, I don't remember what I wanted to say haha!

I'm going to try a new way of writing reviews, instead of summarizing it again for your guys, I'll just go into what I thought of the book, sound good? I mean, that is what you're here for, right? :)

I bought this from Amazon because it was on sale for $3, I've heard the hype around it but I never really had any desire to read it. So when I finished another book, I had my husband choose my next book, ironically, he picked Perfect Chemistry. I didn't think I would really get into it, the cover didn't appeal to me at all and I just didn't think this book would be for me.

I was wrong.

I was so very wrong.

Within the first few pages, I was hooked. I didn't want to leave the house because I wanted to finish this book so badly. I wanted to know what would happen in the end!

I felt bad for Brittany, the things she had to deal with at home, how her parents didn't understand her sister and how her mother was so caught up in her social image (which I can totally relate to) really got to me. It just sucked having to witness. I felt bad for Alex too, how he had doubts if what he was doing was really protecting his family, of wanting to be more than what he was and his own struggle. I have friends who are in gangs and I would hate to imagine one of my friends feeling how he did... stuck.

I loved the humor in this book, I loved how Alex always mixed Spanish into his sentences (I failed Spanish twice so I don't understand much), I never knew Spanish could be so hot. Okay, and I guess like the majority of the people who've read this book, I have a slight crush on Alex as well. I liked the slow building of the friendship between Brittany and Alex. I applaud Brittany for doing what was right. I loved how real every scene felt, and the research that she did on gang lives. The twist towards the end of the book was shocking and the ending? Even more shocking, I'm not a fan of endings like that (I'm trying so hard not to spoil this) but I think this time I was actually satisfied with it!

Giveaway!!!

Perfect Chemistry was my book of the month for May, and so I was suppose to do this giveaway a month ago, but I couldn't write a review so here it is now! All you have to do is fill out the forum here.

News

My best friend decided to go on a random trip this weekend, I need a vacation so who was I to say no? Haha. But of course the thought of being away from blogs and email is making me a little anxious. Weird right? Who'd skip a vacation to the happiest place on Earth and Sin City to keep up with blogs and email? I'm excited! So I won't be able to catch up on reviews this weekend like I had hoped to... which is funny cause I was itching to finish more books so I'd have more reviews to put up and now I'm behind on my reviews lol! So reviews coming up:

Hopefully, in that order. Since I like to do things... in order. Can I just say I am in love with Perfect Chemistry? Oh. My. Goodness. Seriously! If you haven't read it, you need to. Now. Amazing! I can't wait to write the review for this one! I'm hoping Rules of Attraction will be just as good!

I have four books to read for review, so hopefully I'll have half of then read by the time I come back from vacation (since one is a giveaway)!

What else? There was something else I wanted to mention and I totally forgot what it was...! Hmph. Well, I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend! See you in a few days =).
