Summary (Goodreads):

Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head.

But all that changes when the Lynburns return.

The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him?

Do you ever have that moment when you hold a book and your just KNOW it's going to be your favorite? Well I had that moment with this book and for once, I was right! I loved it so much in fact that I had multiple arguments with myself to read it but not read it because I didn't want it to be over. I was reading it in the car, in the middle of running errands, as a reward to finish my homework... I think you get the point!

Unspoken is about Kami, she's a little strange and she likes to make things happen! Which is what I really liked about her. She went to great distances to do incredibly unnecessary things and used "being a reporter" as an excuse. But you know, kudos to you Kami! I am not even a fraction of how brave you are! Also, she hears a voice in her head. Who talks back. It's strange, but it's incredibly interesting as well.

That is until the Lynburns return to Sorry-in-the-Vale and the voice in her head? IT HAPPENS TO BE A REAL PERSON.

Guys. So many emotions.

Unspoken is hilarious. Kami was snarky and demanding and her father was also pretty darn funny. Kami's friend Angela was also a pretty interesting character, consider she hates people. Like seriously hates them. I feel like me and her could be wonderful friends. The bond between Kami and Jared before and after the discovery was touching. There were times when he obviously cared about her even though most of the time he acted like a jerk. I was however incredibly attracted to his sense of humor. And looking back at my favorite quotes, he seems to have a problem with keeping his shirt on, rawr. I had nothing against Ash the entire time, I just wish he wasn't easily influenced. The drama concerning the Lynburns (OH THE DRAMA!) was thrilling and captivating. Things suddenly turned into nothing-is-as-it-seems.

Ending was a bit abrupt but I think because of it, it enhanced the whole dropping-the-book-and-screaming-"WTF!!" for two days. No amount of ice cream could heal this heartbreak! And no amount of ice cream will be able to ease the anxiety that I have to wait a whole year to knows what happens next.

If you're in the mood for a dark story that will have you turning pages and witty sarcastic characters, I highly highly recommend this book!

"Oh, thank God," Jared said. "I couldn't work how to hit you and hold on to you at the same time."
"Hit me?" Kami croaked. "I've had enough of this abusive behavior. And we've only just met! You're making a terrible first impression."

"Where are your clothes?"
"He was doing some -- Zen jogging," she claimed.
Jared flicked her an incredulous glance. "Yes," he said slowly. "Zen jogging. I wasn't that many clothes because -- that's part of the process. You're meant to commune with the elements. Normally, I wouldn't have worn my jeans, but I put them on because I know the English are modest people."
"If I beat my head against this desk, maybe this will make sense," Angela murmured.

"He punched me in the face," said Ash, who understandably did not seem to find the situation humorous at all. "And then he yelled at me for sleeping with our personal trainer!"
"I was told break up scenes were a good way to distract people," Jared said with beautiful simplicity.
"Ash looked so surprised," Holly said. "He had no idea what was going on. He said, 'I didn't sleep with our personal trainer! We don't even have a personal trainer!'"

Holly was laughing. "Jared told her he used to be an exotic dancer in San Francisco."
"My body is a gift from God," Jared said gravely. "Except for my hips, which are clearly a gift from the devil."

-----------

I obviously have one too many favorite quotes for this book lol!
