Ah, a shiny new release just came out that you've been itching to get your hands on and you finally do! You devour it in one (or less than five) sittings, hug the book tight and dream of the day you'll get your hands on the next book in the series.

But when that day comes, while it's on your GoodReads "to-buy" or "to-read" list you just never seem to get around to either buying or reading it. And every time you scroll passed it you wonder what happened? You loved the first book so much that it would only make sense you read the second (or third or whatever) book next, right?

Anyone else have this problem? Is it just me? It can't just be me!!

There are few series' I actually finish. When I first started book blogging/getting back into reading two years ago I was reading everything I could get my hands on. I was so excited to finally get back into reading after ditching it for a few years. I started series after series after series and up until then I had never really read a series before (besides Twilight). Sure I read companion series books but never you had to read book one and two IN ORDER to get it sort of thing. I wasn't aware of the commitment you make! Oh I hate commitments (says the married chick).

One of the series I did start back in 2009 (which actually is what made me want to start book blogging because I had so much to say and no one to say it to) was The Sweep series by Cate Tiernan.

Morgan and her best friend, Bree, are introduced to Wicca when a gorgeous senior named Cal invites them to join his new coven. Morgan falls for Cal immediately and discovers that she has strong, inexplicable powers.

I passed by this book a few (hundred) times before I gave in and bought it. And read it. I got to book #10 before I had to take a break because I had read #1 - #10 back to back and while I enjoyed pretty much every single one of them, I just had to take a break! That was two years ago, I do intend to finish the series but it's one of those you-have-to-read-in-order that maybe I'll just some day write a review on the entire series. I think if you go back to my first few posts I actually have reviews up for some of them...

Lily’s mermaid identity is a secret that can’t get out, since she’s not just any mermaid – she’s a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn’t feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she’s been living on land and going to Seaview high school ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems – like her obnoxious, biker boy neighbor Quince Fletcher – but it has that one major perk – Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren’t really the casual dating type – when they “bond,” it’s for life.

The Fins series by Tera Lynn Childs has a special place in my heart. It was the first ARC I had ever won and I didn't even realize I had won it until Tera messaged me on FB saying "uhm, you won my ARC" lol my bad! It was my second mermaid book and I devoured it. I enjoyed it too, it was fluffy and fun but I just never got around to reading/obtaining the sequel. I hope to someday, because the cliffhanger at the end was just insane.

Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries. Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty—especially if they learn of her Sight—and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries. Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention. But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost—regardless of her plans or desires. Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything. Faerie intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning 21 st century faery tale.

When I first started The Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr, I wasn't 100% sure it was about faeries. I had never even read a faerie book prior to this but I was impressed by Melissa's faeries, the stories behind them and what really intrigued me was the courts. I got literally half way through Fragile Eternity before calling it quits because I couldn't stand to see what Seth would do next. I don't know if I want him to be a fey! I get he wants to be with Ash forever, but dude, what? I'll finish it eventually because I know any day now I'll want to know but right now I just want to know Seth is still human! Haha. I like how it's a series but also companion stories too!

Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition.  He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets.  Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head.  She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is.  Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

When I finished Evermore which is part of The Immortals series by Alyson Noel I was in love. I loved the concept behind her immortals. I loved the bond between Ever and her sister Riley (though I hated her in her own series) but ten pages into Blue Moon and I was just turned off. I don't know what it was, but I just couldn't do it. I don't know if I'll ever finish this series, which is sad because I really liked the first book.

Teagan Wylltson’s best friend, Abby, dreams that horrifying creatures—goblins, shape-shifters, and beings of unearthly beauty but terrible cruelty—are hunting Teagan. Abby is always coming up with crazy stuff, though, so Teagan isn’t worried. Her life isn’t in danger. In fact, it’s perfect. She’s on track for a college scholarship. She has a great job. She’s focused on school, work, and her future. No boys, no heartaches, no problems.
Until Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives. Finn’s a bit on the unearthly beautiful side himself. He has a killer accent and a knee-weakening smile. And either he’s crazy or he’s been haunting Abby’s dreams, because he’s talking about goblins, too... and about being The Mac Cumhaill, born to fight all goblin-kind. Finn knows a thing or two about fighting. Which is a very good thing, because this time, Abby’s right. The goblins are coming.

Tyger Tyger from The Goblin Wars series by Kersten Hamilton was one of my top 3 favorite reads of 2010. I LOVED EVERYTHING about this book. EVERYTHING. I especially loved the part where her dad's memories were drained as long as he told stories. I thought that concept was brilliant! Also, Tyger Tyger was one of the first books where an author reached out to me asking if I'd like to review it. And it was the first book I ever finished in less than 24hrs. Ever lol. I was lucky enough to also have the sequel sent to me but I never got around to reading it. BUT I WILL! I will make special time to read the sequel soon.

This blog post sure is making me nostalgic lol.

Obviously these aren't all the series I've half read but they are a few of the ones I wish I had time/the right mind set to finish.

What are some of the series you've started and wish you could finish? What are some that you've started and don't plan on finishing?
