Summary (goodreads):
Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.
But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love..

I read this months ago and I still don't really know how I feel about Delirium. The idea of love being a disease is just so... odd. I appreciated the tidbits of information from the all mighty book in the beginning of the chapters. It helped me to understand why these people thought love may be a disease. But to have a cure for love? It just seemed so wrong. Okay in all honesty, it kinda made me angry.

Delirium was off to a slow start, for me at least. I grew to like Hana who was daring and a rebel over Lena who always wanted to play by the rules. But I guess when your mother is where she is because of deliria it forces you to play by the rules. I did like Lena's character. She was very real and throughout the whole book. By the middle of the book I was hooked. I could feel my hands start to sweat and my heart race when reading about every time Lena snuck out. Wondering if she'd see Alex or not. Alex! Oh Alex. He was a wonderful character. I simply adored him. I loved the way their friendship bloomed, all the things he introduced Lena to. You could see the change in her and the whole time you're urging her to make the right choice.

The ending was beautiful. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be that. I can't really explain it further but that was the first word that came to mind when I clicked next on my Nook and realized the book was finished (that sounds so wrong). I absolutely can not wait to see what Lena's next adventure will be!

  1. Great review. This was confusing because I also felt it started off really slow, but I love the ending.
