Everlasting by Angie Frazier
Release Date: June 1st, 2010
Book Summary:
Sailing aboard her father's ship is all seventeen-year-old Camille Rowen has ever wanted. But as a lady in 1855 San Francisco, her future is set: marry a man she doesn't love in order to preseve her social standing. On her last voyage before the wedding, Camille learns the mother she has always believed dead is in fact alive and in Australia. When their Sydney-bound ship goes down in a gale, and her father dies, Camille sets out to find her mother and a map in her possession - a map believed to lead to a stone that once belonged to the legendary civilization of the immortals. The stone can do exactly what Camille wants most: bring someone back from the dead. Unfortunately, her father's adversary is also on the hunt for the stone, and she must race him to it. The only person Camille can depend on is Oscar - a handsome young sailor and her father's first mate - who is in love with Camille and whom she is inexplicably drawn to despite his low social standing and her pending wedding vows.
Butterfly by Sonya Hartnett
Release Date: Aug 24th, 2010
Summary:
Plum Coyle is on the edge of adolescence. Her fourteenth birthday is approaching, when her old life and her old body will fall away, and she will become graceful, powerful, and at ease. The strength of the objects she stores in a briefcase under her bed —a crystal lamb, a yoyo, an antique watch, a coin —will make sure of it. Over the next couple of weeks, Plum’s life will change. Her beautiful neighbor Maureen will begin to show Plum how she might fly. The older brothers she adores will court catastrophe in worlds that she barely knows exist. And her friends, her worst enemies, will tease and test, smelling weakness. They will try to lead her on and take her down. BUTTERFLY is a gripping, disquieting, beautifully observed coming-of-age novel by an acclaimed author at the top of her form.

Marie-you pick the books with the best covers! Great list there!
ReplyDeleteEverlasting sounds like a really great read. I will be putting that on my fiction reading this for the summer. Right now I'm anticipating the release of a new non-fiction book called, "Fast Track Networking," which is about how to make the right connections for business and job hunting. As a writer I am looking forward to learning more about networking from an author who is an expert in this field.
ReplyDeleteI read an early copy of Everlasting a couple of months ago and let me tell you it was fantastic! So I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it. Oh, and I'm excited about Winter Longing and Butterfly too!
ReplyDeleteI have an award for you at my blog!
ReplyDeleteI have Everlasting and Winter Longing in my TBR pile....they both sound really good!
ReplyDeleteGreat picks, Marie!! Hey did you see there is a blog tour for Butterfly going on at Jami's blog, YA Addict. :)
