“I’ve left some clues for you.
If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”

Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on a favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. But is Dash that right guy? Or are Dash and Lily only destined to trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations across New York? Could their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions? Or will they be a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions?

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares is the perfect book to get you in the holiday spirit. The book follows Dash, a complex boy with an odd sense of humor and Lily, a girl who's over protected and just wants some company. Both are ironically going to be alone for Christmas with no plans and no sight of their parents who would rather go vacationing then spend time with their kids.

It all starts with a red notebook in a bookstore in NY. Around Christmastime. I loved how Lily pushed Dash to tell secrets he never really told anyone and I loved how Lily was more daring and slowly came out of her protective shell. Dash and Lily brought out a side of each other that was fun to watch and entertaining!

This read was romantic, a little cheesy, realistic and humorous. I really wish I could say more, but I read it back in October and my mind is fuzzy (I really should start writing reviews within 24hrs of finishing a book) and I wish it wasn't so I could fully express just how much I really really loved this book. I wish I hadn't waited a year to read it. So if you haven't read it yet, you should. Like, right now.

When people say right person, wrong time, or wrong person, right time, it's usually a cop-out. They think that fate is playing with them. That we're all just participants in this romantic reality show that God gets a kick out of watching. But the universe doesn't decide what's right or not. You do. - Dash

I read it last year and made sure I went to The Strand when I visited NY for the first time :-)
